Words of Welcome
On behalf of the Ojogho family, I warmly welcome you to this Celebration of Life honoring our beloved Mama Mercy Ojogho.
Today, we gather with sorrow because we deeply miss her, but also with profound gratitude to God for the beautiful life she lived and the many years we were blessed to share with her.
Mama’s life reflected love, faith, compassion, service, and devotion to family. As a mother and grandmother, she gave us wisdom, strength, and unconditional love. As a Nurse Midwife, she extended that same care to countless families, helping bring new life into the world and leaving a lasting impact on those she served.
Her compassion also became an early inspiration for my own journey into medicine.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Okechukwu “OK” Ojogho, MD, MMM, FACS

Her Story
Mama’s love was expressed in the everyday: family, faith, service, quiet wisdom, warm meals, listening ears, and a steadfast belief in those she loved.
To her children, grandchildren, and extended family, Mama was a safe harbor and a steady source of strength. She nurtured with tenderness, guided with wisdom, and loved without condition.
For decades, she cared for families as a Nurse Midwife, helping bring new life into the world and serving people—especially in rural communities—with compassion and dedication.
Her life demonstrated a faith expressed through action: caring for others, giving generously of herself, and creating a home where family could find comfort, guidance, and belonging.
Her influence continues through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, relatives, friends, patients, and the many families whose lives she touched.
Her Family
Mama was blessed with five children—three sons and two daughters. Her family remembers her as the heart of the home: gentle, strong, patient, generous, and deeply devoted.
With Mama: Dr. Okey, Chris, Pat Nne, Nene, and Uzoma.
In Their Own Words
“As a mother, I could not have asked God for a better blessing. You were everything I could have wished for or needed—a devoted, loving mother and grandmother, a mentor, best teacher, and above all, someone who was always there for us.”
“At a very early age, my motivation for becoming a physician came from watching you care for your patients with incredible compassion and dedication.”
“Mama, I am lonely without you. I miss you so much. Life seems strange without you… we developed the strongest bond any two people can ever form.”
“You looked me right in my eyes and told me, ‘ENYI… YOU ARE ALWAYS WITH ME.’ I said, ‘YES, ALWAYS.’ Mama, we’re still together. Rest peacefully. Everything is okay.”
“Your love for us was immeasurable, invaluable and precious. You gave, sacrificed, endured, reassured and stood by us no matter what.”
“Your love for us became the foundation of who we are today. You will forever have our love and gratitude.”
“Late nights and early morning conversations were always golden and formed the foundation of the able woman I became.”
“You may be gone but not forever, because there’s always something special to remind me of you.”
“Mama was the sweetest mother anyone could ever hope for… our safe harbor, our constant comfort, and the warmest light in every room.”
“We will honor you by loving one another the way you loved us, by being kind the way you were kind, and by keeping your memory alive in our hearts.”
